Check this out!
Description Reflection Indoor
The Reflection is the first kite to come out from the brand new “Focus Kite Designs” label, founded by Hunter Brown and Paul de Bakker, based in Wilmington, NC. The Reflection is an optimum between grace, elegance and “trickability”/momentum indoors. It has been carefully developed over the last two years, and has had a high amount of testing time in both Europe and the USA by a number of different fliers. Wingspan of the Reflection is 193 cm, or 76”, which is large enough to provide sufficient sail area to fly low & slow and small enough to give the kite great balance for your catch & throw moves. Its frame is hybrid, a mix of stiff tapered wrapped carbon fiber tubes and pultruded carbon tubes, carefully matched to give the kite strength, durability, balance and lightness. All the parts are from the highest quality suppliers; APA and FSD/Jaco, with the sail made out of Icarex PC31 and the bridle made from low stretch and low weight Spectra with multiple adjustment options. Bridling on the Reflection is ingenious, it’s a DS-bridle (Dynamic/Static), which in normal flight will behave like a standard, stable 3-point bridle, while moving the towpoints out when the kite is in fade position, allowing for great stability and a new realm of 3D moves. An added bonus is that the central part of the bridle won’t be easily caught behind the keel, because it’s stopped by the support line. The standoff system is unique, one continuous bow with both ends connecting to two connectors on the lower spreader, providing a very smooth sail profile and dynamic tension. Further details are covered upper leading edge connectors, a Mylar and Kevlar reinforced nose area where the kite is held mostly during catch and throw moves, yoyo-stoppers (yes, it WILL yoyo), wingtips covered in soft end caps for grip on slippery gym floors, an adjustable tail weight and an adjustable leech line to reinforce the trailing edge and keep it under tension. Recommended lines are 80 lbs x 12ft Spectra, the reason for the relatively heavy line is that your lines will be very visible and they will fall down faster when doing slack line maneuvres, thus avoiding the lines to get tangled in the kite. Recommended skill level: Novice - Master MSRP: $225 Thank you Paul! Theresa |

Looks like the Level One amazing in some respects. I seem to recall that Paul had a hand in the design of the Level One Amazing or is my memory not what it used to be?

Your memory is great, Lance. Yes, Paul did the Amazing design for Level One. When he was in the Shoppe a couple weeks ago, he was delighted to see I have them in stock and on display!

Hi Theresa,
I was thinking the same thing Re: the Amazing. I wonder how the two kites compare flight wise, and wind range. Im still very much on the lookout for a true UL / SUL :-k |

Hi Lance,
I was wondering how you have been doing. It's been way to long, since we've flown. Jeez the last time I saw you, was shortly after you broke your hand. Hopefully we'll do some flying, once the weather improves. |

Hey all,
First off, thank you Theresa for carrying the Reflection, i am working hard on your new kites at the moment!!
To the people that noticed a resemblance with the Amazing; yeah, i did that kite 10 years ago and my philosophy about flying a kite indoors has not changed, so the general shape/outline of the kite might seem similar. However, what HAS changed, is my understanding about kitebuilding and my skill level. The construction of the Reflection is much different and the two don't fly alike. They are simply not the same kites. The only thing they have in common is their "floatyness". The Reflection is in ALL aspects evolved. I am working hard on getting the "Focus Kite Designs" website up, and as soon as that happens, will post a link here. There is video available that John Barresi shot of me flying the Reflection which will be on the website as well. That should already show pretty clearly what the kite is capable of. Other than that, you really are going to have to test it for yourselves, maybe at the Lincoln City Indoor Fest?? best, Paul de Bakker |

No knock on the Reflection was intended I apologize if it came off that way. I liked the Amazing quite a bit I still have one. If you have captured the Amazings "Floatyness" with the ability to roll it up, which was apparent from the yo-yo stoppers I noticed. Then you have done well with the Reflection!

I would like to get out to Delta Park and do some flying when the weather does improve some and we don't have to jump puddle's. |

Hello hiflistorr,
Please don't apologize, not needed at all!!
With my post i kinda wanted to be ahead of any speculations regarding the origin of the Reflection, especially since i can't expect people's memories to go back 10 years, or to link me to the Amazing. Basically, just wanted to clear up any confusion before it's even there... best, Paul |

And to be a bit more specific, spine and lower spreader are Skinny UL, upper spreader is pultruded .156 carbon tube and leading edge is a .156/ Skinny UL mix.

Hi Chris! Yep green, yellow and white in The Shoppe. I'll post a picture of it for you.
Sorry, can't do the 10% discount on kites that aren't wholesaled. Basically, I buy the kites, and stock them for visibility and accessibility and in support for Paul......but not for profit. Also, won't count as a kite train kite either....
Just hoping to help Paul spread the word and the joy!

I'm sitting on the fence at the moment. Having a new home that needs windows, doors, and a new roof is definitely a damper in the kite funds. But tax returns could help to score a kite or 2. Hopefully I'll get it back soon. :?
